2024 Otaru Ushio Festival Fireworks Viewing Cruise
It has been announced that a fireworks display will be held again this year as part of Otaru biggest event, the Otaru Ushio Festival.
The crew at Otaru Canal Boat have decided to run a fireworks-viewing cruise for this display, so please enjoy the impressive front row views of the fireworks that our open canal boats provide.

Timetable 1) Reception (12:00 to
19:20)Please show the electronic voucher you received when making a reservation to the staff at our ticket center by the Chuo Bridge on the Otaru Canal. We recommend coming early as reception will be busy between 18:00 and 19:00. Again, if you do not come to reception by 19:20, we will cancel your reservation. Please be sure not to be late.
2) Meeting time/
preparations(19:10 to
19:30)Our staff will hand out life jackets and explain how to wear and use them at the boarding area beside our ticket center. As the ticket center and boarding area are close to the venue for the Ushio Festival, the areas nearby will be crowded. Once again, we recommend being early.
3) Boarding /
Departure(19:30 to 19:50) Multiple boats will be used for this cruise. Each boat will depart once boarding and preparations are completed.
Please understand that it is not possible to choose where you sit.
4) Fireworks
display(20:00 to
20:30)Our boats will travel to Otaru’s port where you can enjoy close-up views of the fireworks launched from the Ironai Pier.
5) Return trip/
disembarkation(20:30 to
20:50)Our boats will travel along the South Canal to our jetty by the Chuo Bridge where you can get off.

If it rains, we will provide rain coats free of charge.

Even if the fireworks display is held, the cruise will be cancelled if we decide that we cannot operate safely because of heavy rain, strong winds, extremely high tides etc.

In the case that the fireworks display is cancelled, our fireworks-viewing cruise will also be cancelled and a refund will be provided at a later date.

In the case of bad weather, we will decide whether or not we can operate at 17:00 and soon after make an announcement through our website and officialX(twitter) account.
- If for some reason you decide to cancel before we decide whether or not we can operate, cancellation fees will apply.
If the number of people in your group changes
To change the number or people that your reservation is for, please contact us by email (info@otaru.cc) or telephone (0134-31-1733). When contacting us, please provide your reservation number and/or the mobile phone number used when making a reservation.
Other information

Some of the roads near our ticket center/boarding area will be closed on the day of the fireworks display, and many of the nearby parking facilities may not be accessible. Where possible, please use public transport.

Please be sure to go to the toilet before boarding (there are no toilets on our boats). There are 2 toilets at our ticket center, but as we expect many passengers, where possible, please use nearby public toilets and the toilets at nearby commercial facilities etc.

+Passengers will be provided with belt-type life jackets (vest-type life jackets will be provided for children around the age of 6 and younger). Life jackets must be worn at all times during the cruise. Please bring babies and other children too small to wear a life jacket onboard in a baby carrier/sling.

Please understand that people who have had too much to drink or whose behavior troubles other passengers will not be allowed to board.

Depending upon which boat you are on the cruise can be up to 2 hours long. Again, even when are boats are not moving, they can rock. If you are feeling unwell, please be sure to tell our staff before you board.
